I received my B.S. with a major in Psychology and a minor of Sociology, in 2008, from Charleston Southern University. I went straight to graduate school and graduated from Webster University, with M.A. in Counseling, with an emphasis on Marriage, Family and Children. During my time at Webster, I completed a one year long internship at East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) under the supervision of Marie Carter and Associates. There, I gained invaluable experience counseling a diverse clientele, for a long period of time. I also complete two years of internship in my own Charleston-based practice, Alicia Johnson Counseling. Currently, I specialize in treating clients with emotional disorders using Technology based interventions and the United Protocol (CBT).
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of South Carolina, which is where I currently see telehealth clients, as an independent contractor from my home office in Brevard, NC. I employ several strength based techniques in my sessions, using a family systems and biopsychosocial lense, and help to empower and move the client toward their goals. I relocated from the Charleston area, where I have lived since as long as I can remember. I love the ocean, sustainable micro gardening, and camping with my family in our VW bus! My other favorite job is mothering my three children, who inspiring and challenge me to work to facilitate understanding to promote generational change and create a better community and world. |
